Danjugan Island is a special place. We were lucky enough to have it recommended to us by one of our marine biologist friends, who had done some work around the island.
It didn't disappoint.
The island is first and foremost an ecotourism destination aimed towards conservation, so they want to make sure that all their guests understand that it is not a resort. It's more like an outdoor classroom where students come to learn and researchers come to study its magnificent biodiversity.
The island is the centre of a marine reserves consisting of 3 no-take marine reserves and its forests have been left untouched since the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation purchased it in the 1990s.
